When God is at the center of our lives, we can better situate the little things.
We are left with several questions following today's study:
--Do I direct my deeds toward turning to God? (Not just words, but "my deeds".)
--Do I know the Lord?
--Do I acknowledge my offenses to God?
--Do I seek God's face?
--Do I earnestly seek God in my affliction?
--Is my faithfulness to God certain or or is it like a morning cloud and the early dew which both disappear quickly?
--Do I know what is pleasing to God and what He wants from me?
"They do not direct their deeds toward turning to their God . . and they do not know the Lord" (Hosea 5:4).
"I will return again to My place till they acknowledge their offense, then they will seek My face; in their affliction they will earnestly seek Me" (v.15).
God asks what shall He do to Ephraim and Judah "for your faithfulness is like a morning cloud, and like the early dew it goes away" (6:4).
"For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings" (6:6).
Psalm 139:1-6, A Psalm of David--
"O Lord, You have searched me and known me.
You know my sitting down and my rising up;
You understand my thought afar off.
You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.
For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.
You have hedged me behind and before, and laid Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it".
Am I aware that God knows me better than I know myself?
Proverbs 29:19--
"A servant will not be corrected by mere words; for though he understands, he will not respond."
Am I aware of how often I allow God's words to fall to the ground?
I John 5:1-21--
"For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments" (v.3).
"And this is the victory that has overcome the world---our faith" (v. 4).
"He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life" (v. 12).
"And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding that we may know Him who is true: and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen" (v. 20-21).
--Does my faith in God exceed lip service?
--Do I experience "victory" in my life?
--Do I have "life"? Do I have the Son"?
--Do I understand the importance of keeping myself---from idols?
